West Chester Townhome
West Chester, PA · Medium Yard
Design $1,200–$1,800 · Installation $12,500–$27,500
The property
This West Chester townhome was given a designed landscape that makes the most of a compact front and side yard. A bluestone walk now leads through layered planting beds filled with hydrangeas, phlox, black-eyed Susans, and other perennials that provide color and structure from early summer into fall.
Design goals
- Replace sparse lawn and tired planting with a cohesive garden
- Create a welcoming walkway to the front door
- Use layered perennials for long-season color with low maintenance
Challenges
Townhome lots offer limited planting area, so every bed had to work hard to create visual impact from the street and the walk.
Plant strategy
White hydrangeas, pink phlox, purple blazing star, and yellow black-eyed Susans form the core seasonal palette, supported by grasses and evergreen structure.
Installation
Beds were reshaped along the walk and house foundation, then planted in layered masses to frame the bluestone path.
The finished landscape
A townhome garden that feels established and welcoming, with color that carries through the growing season.
Investment
A front or side yard with multiple planting beds and a clear walkway.
